September 2026

Sherwood businesses stand ready.

September is National Preparedness Month. Most small business owners get plenty of reminders to test smoke detectors and keep an emergency kit at home, but maybe not as many around the tech that keeps their business running. This page is here to help with that.

The checklist

A one-page IT preparedness check.

Seven questions worth being able to answer, plus a reference sheet for the vendors you'd need to call when something goes wrong. Free, no email required, made for small businesses.

A conversation

Walk through it with me.

If it would be easier to talk any of this through, I'm happy to spend a short call walking through this checklist with you. No cost, no obligation, no sales pitch. Just a conversation.

Reach out

When something has already gone wrong.

The checklist above is for preparation. This one is for the sixty minutes after a call starts with "we've been hit." Three scenarios, what to do in each, and four phone numbers worth writing down before you need them.

The response guide

First hour cyber incident response.

A one-page printable for a phishing click, a fraudulent wire, or a ransomware note. What to do, in what order, and what not to touch. Free, no email required.

Why now

Preparation is almost always cheaper than recovery.

Most small businesses don't have a full IT department, and that makes preparation matter more, not less. When something goes wrong, the difference between a bad afternoon and a bad quarter usually comes down to a few things that were, or weren't, in place before the incident.

The checklist is short on purpose. Seven things worth having in place, and a one-page reference for who to call when something breaks. If you can honestly say yes to all seven, you're in better shape than most. If any of them give you pause, that's a good place to spend some time.
